Al-Taj News – Rami Imam said, in statements to a local Egyptian website, that through the project he aims to document his father’s artistic journey and present a work celebrating his history and contributions to cinema. He also denied any intention of making a new installment of the film Hassan and Marcus, which starred Adel Imam alongside internationally renowned Egyptian actor Omar Sharif.
This comes months after Egyptian media personality Amr El-Leithy revealed that director Rami Imam was working on documenting his father, actor Adel Imam’s memoirs on camera, in a project intended to record aspects of his personal life and artistic milestones.
During his appearance on the program The Theater of Life on Kuwait’s Al-Rai TV channel, El-Leithy explained that Rami Imam films his father at intervals, asking him questions that he answers on camera. The aim is to preserve details of a career spanning nearly six decades, during which he appeared in Egyptian cinema and television drama across different generations.
Two years ago, the family of the Egyptian actor known as “The Leader” announced that he had decided to step away from acting and devote himself to his family life. In January 2024, his eldest son, director Rami Imam, revealed that his father had chosen to spend more time with his children and grandchildren.
The announcement came during Saudi Arabia’s Joy Awards ceremony, where his youngest son, actor Mohamed Imam, accepted the “Leader of Arab Art” award, which was presented in recognition of his father’s career. Since then, Adel Imam has not participated in any new artistic productions, marking the end of his on-screen presence after a long career.
